Strep or Scarlet Fever?

Tuesday night we noticed a funny rash on Alexandra while giving her a bath. We called the doctor, initially thinking it could be chicken pox, but they said most likely an allergic reaction and we should give her some medicine and if things are not better in the morning, come on in! Well, the night went fine, morning came and I almost did not recognize my beautiful little girl. She was covered from head to toe in a scary looking rash. Off to the doctor we went. After describing the symptoms, we had a rapid strep test done and discovered it was strep. I, of course, could not understand how that was possible since she had not had a soar throat, fever or any other symptoms you would normally associate with strep. So we learned about a new thing ~ Scarlet fever~ apparently the skin version of strep. Leave it to Alexandra to bring home something new

Working From Home!

Have you ever noticed daycare is closed every chance they get. I mean really, you pay all this money per week, but it seems like they are always closed during your scheduled working days. I was the one who picked the short straw and was able to stay home with them this past President's Day! Lucky me. I had so much stuff to do, that I decided it would be a good idea to work from home a little. Anthony is into everything, so I broke out the pack n play for a little caged fun. Alexandra, of course, was feeling left out, so she decided to play in it as well. Worked perfectly - got some things accomplished and they had a great time.

Happy 30th Birthday Aunt Stephanie

We all went down to Miami this weekend for Aunt Stephanie's 30th Birthday. This was the sure to be a fun adventure. Uncle Nathan rode with us in the Durango and between the two kids, three adults, pack n play and all the luggage, we had a very tight fit. We made good time with minimal stops. When we arrived in Miami, we first had to stop at the Miami Children's Hospital to visit Aunt Jewel. Luckily, she was able to come home in time for the party on Saturday. Aunt Daniela and Hailey came over for the party as well. It is always so nice to get the three cousins together - since they are so close in age - they play very nice together. Joe went all out and had the food catered ~ very yummy! Here was a DJ, dancing and the girls loved it. Let me tell you, Alexandra, Izzy and Hailey got some moves!

Show me those pearly whites!

Alexandra had her third dentist appointment today. The first two appointments really do not classify as real "office visits" although the insurance company was charged. Alexandra was always willing to sit in the big chair, but when it came time for the hygienist to look at her teeth, it was a whole different issue. She was terrified of the "vacuum" and hated the "hose" and "blower" even more. She did like the "paint brush" which was just a fluoride treatment. However, this visit was a whole new day for us. We went first thing in the morning, it was a family event! Alexandra was first, she climbed right up into the chair. Off to a good start. She let Jamie (the hygientist) floss her teeth, clean her teeth with the electronic gadget, use the "hose" and even the "vaccum". Next was the scary scrapper gadget to get a tarter spot off in the front of her teeth - I was in total shock. She was doing great. Next was the "paint brush" and then we were done. She was so proud of herself. She raided the treasure chest on the way out. Great Job Alexandra!

A Girl's Weekend

Alexandra and I went to Ft Myers for a long weekend. Aunt Daniela and Hailey moved into a new house and we had to go and check it out. The girls are only a few weeks apart, but really could not be any different. Hailey loves to play outside and plays hard. Alexandra is more of a "delicate flower" and is typically an inside girl. After being outside riding bikes for an hour, Alexandra wanted to go in, Hailey was not ready yet and Aunt Daniela and I were still working on unpacking boxes in the garage. Alexandra started whining about how she "had to go inside because she was all sweaty." We had a great time playing with our cousin!

When Cheese is Still Cute

Anthony is really a chunky little guy. He loves getting in the bath with Alexandra and I got some great "baby butt" pictures of him. I guess at this age, cheese is still cute - hope he grows out of it

He loves his Sister

Today, Anthony and Alexandra took a nap together in our bed. I could not resist - this was too cute. Anthony always wants to be exactly where Alexandra is - he loves her to death. Even when he sleeps, he wants to be touching her. If she knew this - she would get upset. She is not a fan yet, it will come as he gets a little older, and stops drooling.
